Reports – Leeds identify primary head coach target down under

Reports in Dave ‘Nosey’ Parker’s column in League Weekly has named Leeds Rhinos primary target from Australia to replace Dave Furner as head coach.

Furner was sacked at the beginning of May after just 14 games in charge, with interim coach Richard Agar taking over shortly after, and a number of names have been tossed around as potential replacement, including former Wigan coach Shaun Wane.

However, it now appears that Leeds have their sights set on South Sydney assistant coach and former Wakefield star Jason Demetriou to take over at Headingley.

Demetriou has enjoyed spells coaching at North Queensland Cowboys, St George Illawarra Dragons, Brisbane Broncos and most recently Souths, as an understudy to England coach Wayne Bennett, with Kevin Sinfield now keen to lure the Australian to Super League.
