Reports – NRL strike forward made available to Super League clubs

Reports in Australia claim a Newcastle second rower is chasing a move to Super League.

And RL News understands that Warrington are one of the clubs interested in landing his signature.

Samoan test prop James Gavet has played 18 matches for the Knights this season, but is eager to secure a long-term deal.

And with just one year remaining on his contract with Newcastle, the 29-year-old is believed to be exploring opportunities to make the switch to Super League.

Nine Wide World of Sports gossip columnist ‘The Mole’ writes: “At 29 and with one season to run on his contract, Gavet is looking to secure a three-year deal on big money in England to end his career.

“With fellow prop Herman Ese’ese set to quit the club, the Knights want to keep Gavet, but face the problem of trying to hang on to a player who doesn’t want to be there.”

The report suggests that Super League clubs have been made aware of Gavet’s desire to leave.
