RFL chief executive Ralph Rimmer has hailed the contribution made by one of Sky Sports’ longest-serving on-screen personalities following their decision to step down.
Angela Powers will appear on screens for the final time this weekend, ending a 21-year association with the sport on TV.
Rimmer said: “This weekend marks the end of an era for Sky’s coverage of Rugby League, as Angela Powers hangs up her microphone after 21 years in the game.
“Angela has been an outstanding, pioneering journalist, blazing the trail now being followed by many other women in the Rugby League media.
“But her contribution to Rugby League has gone well beyond that, with her very long standing commitment to women’s rugby league and her crucial role in the rapid development of the women’s game over the last few years.
“On behalf everyone at the Rugby Football League, everyone in Women’s Rugby League, and the game as a whole – thank you Angela!”
Powers’ decision follows the retirement of Eddie Hemmings earlier this season.
