Hull KR’s hopes of having one of their key experienced stars on deck for their clash with Castleford have taken a blow, with the extent of the injury now revealed.

It was originally thought that Kane Linnett would be fit to play against the Tigers a week on Sunday after suffering a minor calf injury.

However, scans have revealed the issue is actually more serious, with a low grade tear ruling him out for potentially the next three weeks and two fixtures for Rovers.

“He’ll miss one maybe two games. It’s enough to keep him out but it’s not a major one,” head coach Tony Smith said.

“The scan showed there was a tear in there. He’s quite functional and he thought there was just a tightness in there.”
