St Helens helped themselves to eleven tries in a 62-16 thrashing of fellow top five side Hull FC, but suffered a bitter injury blow with England international Luke Thompson leaving the field in the first 15 minutes.

Justin Holbrook confirmed that the front rower, who has been in stunning form so far in 2019, had suffered a syndesmosis, which is ligament damage, to his higher ankle and will likely be sidelined for a number of weeks.

“I don’t think it will be good. A syndesmosis on his ankle – we are not too sure on the timeframe yet,” Holbrook admitted.
