Salford have issued a statement addressing an incident during Friday’s match at Leeds that saw a flare thrown on the field by a supporter.
Comment after the game suggested that the perpetrator had been identified and the Red Devils have this afternoon confirmed they will be exploring the “stongest sanctions available”.
Their statement reads: “Salford Red Devils are disappointed that Friday evening’s historic victory at Headingley has been tarnished by the actions of one individual.
“Releasing a flare on the Western Terrace and jeopardising the safety of fellow supporters flies in the face of everything our community club stands for.
“This action will not be tolerated, the club will ensure those responsible are issued with the strongest sanctions available.
“We are continuing to work with our friends at Leeds Rhinos and the RFL and will issue bans to any and all found guilty of such anti-social behaviours.
“The club are proud to positively represent the people and city of Salford and will take a zero tolerance approach to any further incidents of this nature that tarnish the reputation.
“Salford Red Devils would like to thank the supporters who assisted in the swift identification of these individuals and whose behaviour has been impeccable when following the team throughout the season.
“The club will make no further comment on this incident, until the current investigation is completed.”
