Salford Red Devils will play host to local rivals Swinton Lions in a pre-season friendly at the start of the year.
The Red Devils, who were runners-up in the 2019 Super League Grand Final to champions St Helens, will host the Championship outfit at the AJ Bell Stadium on Sunday, January 5 with a kick-off time of 1pm.
This will be the first pre-season friendly for both clubs and Lions Operations Director Steve Wild is calling on all supporters to get down and cheer their side on.
He told the Swinton Lions club website: “I’d like to place on record our thanks to Ian Blease, Ian Watson and the AJ Bell Stadium for making this opening and exciting pre-season encounter possible.
“Salford had a wonderful campaign last year and we couldn’t ask for a tougher opening test for our squad. It’s a traditional encounter dating back 140 years and evokes a lot of great memories.
“I hope our supporters get along to the AJ Bell Stadium in good numbers to support the Lions.”
