Schofield slates Wells’ Sky role

Former Great Britain international Garry Schofield has hit out at Jon Wells’ role as a pundit for Sky Sports.

Wells is director of rugby at Castleford, where he is also a former player, and Schofield believes his presence as a part of Sky’s Rugby League presentation is “not a good look”.

He Tweeted: “Jon Wells is a director of rugby at one club, slating another club and praising his own.

“Not a good look for a TV pundit.”

Schofield also questioned the decision to use Sean Long as a pundit for this evening’s match between St Helens and Warrington.

Long recently announced he will leave Saints to join Harlequins RU’s coaching staff.

He added: “Sean Long has finally sprung up on telly.

“Did they wait for him to go to rugby union first?”
