Shaun Kenny-Dowall will quit Newcastle to take up an opportunity in Super League next season.
The Sydney Daily Telegraph’s Michael Carayannis reports that the 31-year-old forward is headed for the UK and, though the identity of the club he’ll join is undisclosed, reports down under suggest he’ll link up with Hull KR on a three-year deal.
Kenny-Dowall is a former New Zealand international and veteran of more than 250 NRL appearances.
He told Carayannis: “I was a bit emotional this week when I found out this was going to be my last year.
“I’ve been reflecting a lot. It’s been an unbelievable journey. No-one would’ve thought I would’ve played in this game for so long.
“I knew from a kid I wanted to play in the NRL and play for my country. I would’ve been happy to play just one season.”
