Sheffield Eagles’ Mark Aston has revealed the club are close to confirming up to six new signings for next season, some of which may raise a few eyebrows.
The Eagles have enjoyed a much improved campaign this year, finishing just outside the Championship top five and claimed the very first 1895 Cup trophy at Wembley last month.
Looking ahead to 2020, Aston is confident that some quality additions are close to being finalised and will help his side kick on from their success.
“We have five or six all but done. I am not far off. There will be a few eyebrows raised maybe with one or two. I know what I need with this squad, he told Sheffield Star.
“There is some experience coming in but also some young lads who want to progress. It is a nice mix again which I am pleased about.
“We’ll get the players done who are going to be staying here and then we’ll pick the right time to announce the new lads.”
