Melbourne Storm captain Cameron Smith says he is well rested and excited for the coming season after confirming he will play on in the NRL in 2020.

Smith became the first ever player to notch up 400 NRL games in 2019, but speculation at the end of the season linked the veteran dummy half with immediate retirement following a disappointing end to the Storm’s campaign.

However, the 36 year old has confirmed he’ll lead Melbourne again next year.

“I’ve had a good break after another pretty big season in 2019. I’ve had time to relax and put my feet up and I’m feeling pretty fresh now,” he told the club website.
