Super League and the RFL have issued a joint statement to address the violent scenes seen in the stands at the Stade Gilbert Brutus after the Catalans Warrington game yesterday.

A mass brawl on the field between the players was then followed by horrifying scenes off it as fans started fighting at the top of one of the stands and the two governing bodies have given their thoughts on the incident.

Super League and RFL joint statement: “We were appalled to see the pictures from Perpignan, and an investigation will be launched.

“The scenes are alien to Super League and have no place in our game. We will be taking firm action to make it clear this behaviour is totally unacceptable.”
