Andy Thornley has followed in his brother’s footsteps by re-signing with Leigh for the 2020 Betfred Championship.
Thornley – whose brother Iain has also committed to the club for 2020 – is in his second stint at Leigh having signed from Swinton Lions in November last year.
Forward Thornley started 17 games last season, coming off the bench a further seven times and scoring seven tries.
He told the club website: “I’m made up to have re-signed for next year. I’m a big believer in Duffs (Leigh head coach John Duffy) and his staff. They have a vision for the club and I’m grateful to be a part of it.
“Playing in front of the Leigh faithful, old friends and my brother last year reignited a passion for rugby I thought I was losing so I jumped at the chance to play another year.
“I said to John at the start of last year that I wanted to finish my career being able to look in the mirror and know I’ve given everything to achieve something. I think Leigh is the only place I can push myself to do this.”
