Great Britain coach Wayne admitted his side showed traits of where they were two years ago after seeing his side fall to Tonga.

The Mate Ma’a avenged their 2017 World Cup semi-final loss to England in Hamilton by beating the Lions 14-6 and Bennett put it down to a lack of patience and poor completions.

“There was good and bad. I thought we went back to where we were a couple of years ago because there were too many errors and not enough patience shown,” he told BBC Sport.

“[Tonga] are a quality team and all the players are top guys in their positions. We knew we had a hard game on our hands. We fell apart a little bit in the second half.”
