Toronto chairman Bob Hunter believes the club is “four or five players” away from being able to field a truly competitive side in Super League next year.
In conversation with Sportsnet in Canada, Hunter confirmed that key additions will need to be made ahead of 2020.
He said: “Certainly from the standpoint of what that squad will look like, we’re four five guys away from being strongly competitive.
“Both Brians [McDermott and Noble] were in that league and they have a great appreciation of what’s required.
“The game is quicker and tougher, and the guys are bigger.
“We think we’ll be ready, but we won’t see that until we get to the competition.
“But there will be some changes.”
