Jordan Turner helped recommend Huddersfield to former Canberra team-mate Aidan Sezer.
Turner was on the books at the Raiders at the same time as Sezer and the former Hull player confirmed the pair had been in contact before the Austalian half signed with the Giants.
He said: “We stayed in contact ever since I left Canberra, we had become really good mates.
“He told me back then at some point he wanted to come to England.
“I’ve just been telling him about the club and the changes we intend to make for the 2020 season.”
The capture of Sezer has been hailed as a major coup by Huddersfield and Turner shares that enthusiasm.
“It’s rare that someone comes to Super League after playing such an important role in an NRL Grand Final.
“It’s a statement of intent and shows the direction we want to head in next season.
“It’s exactly what the squad needs, his playing abilities along with his experience and leadership is second to none.
“He’s a very smart dominant ball playing half who also has a running game. He’s fast, fit and strong.
“He’s an outstanding left-footed kicker who can kick goals for fun. He’s got it all really.”
