Wigan Warriors hooker Sam Powell admits he is desperate to get his hands on the Challenge Cup this season.

The Warriors, who have won the Challenge Cup on 19 occasions, have not lifted the famous silverware since they beat Hull FC in 2013.

Powell was on the substitutes bench when Wigan last got to Wembley in 2017, where they were beaten 18-14 by Hull FC.

The 27-year-old told the club website: “As a team we play for Wigan and are expected to win silverware so that will be the goal. Personally, I want to be as consistent as I can and be injury free.

“If I successfully get it (Challenge Cup) then I would’ve won everything in the English game, and I don’t want to be retiring and not getting it.
