Despite being one of the form teams during the second half of last season, Wigan’s Liam Marshall admits the team may have peaked too soon in 2019.

The Warriors fell just short of Old Trafford after putting poor form and off-field turmoil during the opening months of the campaign behind them

But Marshall contests: “We maybe peaked too soon last year and were a couple of games short, so we are looking to be more consistent as a team in order to challenge for silverware.

“One game away from Old Trafford isn’t a bad place to be but we want to be there for those titles. We are looking to be more successful.”

And after rising through the ranks of the club’s academy himself, the Wigan winger is confident that the latest crop of youngsters can steer the Warriors to success.

“You see a lot of the young lads throughout the year – they bring something new and refreshes the place up a bit.

“They’re obviously keen and want a place in the first team squad.”
