Hard hitting veteran Cronulla Sharks captain Paul Gallen stunned the rugby league world by slotting the first field goal of his career in the final minute of his side’s win over Wests Tigers.

The 38 year old former NSW captain and Australian Test forward will retire at the end of the season and led his side to a victory over the Tigers then ensured the Sharks made the NRL top eight play-offs, with his stunning one pointer the final act of a commanding 25-8 win at Leichhardt Oval.
