Salford boss Ian Waston was delighted to add another quality forward to his pack for next season, after the club announced their second signing from Hull KR in quick succession.

James Greenwood will join Chris Atkin in playing for Salford next season after signing a deal to re-join the club, having previously spent time on loan at the AJ Bell Stadium in 2015.

Despite being on the road to recovery from an ACL tear, Greenwood has started training Salford immediately and Watson had no doubt he would add plenty to his side’s middle unit.

“Greeny’s a great bloke and a big, no-nonsense, mobile forward, who’s is equally effective in the middle, or second-row,” he said on

“He’s got good leg speed and footwork. He runs strong lines, with great ball playing abilities and an attitude in defence to match.

“At 28, he’s coming into his best years and I believe we’ll see them at Salford.”
