Wigan Warriors have played down reports that new signing Jackson Hastings does not want to join the club.

On Sunday, The Sun’s Gary Carter reported that the 23-year-old was having second thoughts about joining the Warriors, having signed from Salford Red Devils.

The reigning Man of Steel signed a two-year deal last season, but the report suggests he is ready to turn his back on the chance to play for the Warriors.

Wigan have been quick to play down any talk that Hastings is unhappy. They released a statement to Wigan Today, which read:

“As one of Wigan’s international contingent, he is currently on an extended break following the Great Britain Rugby League Lions tour and the Club are looking forward to welcoming him to Wigan ahead of the 2020 Betfred Super League season.”
