Wigan Warriors Women are going to host a single trial session in a hope to recruit new players ahead of the 2020 campaign.
The Warriors, who won the Grand Final in 2018, finished fourth last season and exited the Challenge Cup in the semi-finals.
The Warriors are welcoming players of all abilities and backgrounds to take part in the trials. This is not a concept for the Warriors, back in 2017 they held open trials and they managed to pick up Georgia Wilson.
Wilson is an integral part of the Warriors set up and has recently represented England in the World 9s in Australia, while she is also currently on tour in Papua New Guinea.
She told the club website: “Trialling for Wigan back in 2017 was my first encounter with rugby league after playing union for two years at University.
“The start of the 2018 season was difficult as I tried to make the transition from union to league but with hard work and great support, I learned a great deal and started to see progressions in no time at all.”
“The majority of the girls at the trials had come from local clubs and were all very welcoming, but there were a lot of new players too and as soon as trials ended there was a great bond in the squad.”
Kris Ratcliffe’s side scored 73 tries and notched 38 goals in 2019, as well as handing out 11 debuts, and look to build on their squad for next year.
If you think you have what it takes to be a Warrior, and would like the chance to pull on the famous Cherry & White jersey, trials will take place at Robin Park Arena from 10am-12pm on Saturday 30th November. Fill in the form at the end of this link.
