Winger Ince signs for Leigh

Leigh Centurions’ recruitment drive continues after announcing the signing of winger Ryan Ince from Betfred Championship rivals Widnes Vikings.

The 23-year-old speedster impressed for the Vikings last season, he ran in 19 tries in 22 appearances and he will be looking to continue that form in the colours of Leigh.

A product of the Widnes Moorfield club, Ince progressed through the Academy ranks at Widnes to make his first team debut for the club in 2016. He has also spent time on loan at Whitehaven, Hunslet and North Wales and has scored 37 tries in 70 career games.

He said: “I am looking forward to starting a new challenge in a new environment. It’s a fresh start for me and I’m really excited.

“The Betfred Championship is a tough competition and the standard is improving every year. I’m hoping to play as many games as possible and stay injury free.”

Leigh head coach John Duffy added: “Signing Ryan is a massive coup for us. He is a Super League quality winger and the kind of personnel we want at this club as we look for a big season.

“Ryan brings the ball back brilliantly and gets his team on the front foot as well as being able to finish. He reads the game so well, especially in defence and he will be great to have around and I’m looking forward to working with him.”

This news come on the back of the announcements that the Centurions have signed Danny Addy, Nathan Mason and Ben Hellewell, as well as re-signing Iain Thornley.
