Warrington have confirmed that Gareth Widdop is likely to miss the first three rounds of Super League after suffering an ankle injury.

Marquee signing Widdop arrived at the Wolves after having endured an injury-disrupted final season with St George Illawarra.

His new club had been hopeful of him hitting the ground running in 2020, following the agreement of a three-year deal.

But the England international suffered the new injury at a recent training session and he will now undergo further assessments.
