Mike Cooper will kick off his Testimonial year with a friendly against Salford Red Devils in January.

The fixture that will see the teams compete for the 1895 Sports Challenge Cup is the only friendly to be held at the Halliwell Jones Stadium. The game will take place on Thursday, January 23 with a kick-off time of 7.45pm.

To honour the occasion there will be a specially designed Testimonial kit which will be manufactured by Mike’s company 1895 Sports and will be worn by the Warrington Wolves’ team on the evening.

The Rugby Football League has awarded the England International a 12-month Testimonial in recognition of his illustrious career, good character and service to the community both within and around Rugby League.

Cooper started with Latchford Albion where he rose through the amateur ranks before signing for Warrington at 11 years of age, making his first team debut in 2006.

He has played at all age groups for Warrington in a career which has seen him win the Challenge Cup on two separate occasions in 2009 and 2019 respectively.

In 2013 Cooper took the decision to try his hand overseas signing for St George Illawarra Dragons of the NRL. He played a total of 69 games over three seasons before returning back to play for the Wolves in 2017.

He said: “I’m really proud and thankful to the club and Rugby League for organising my Testimonial. I’ve been at this club since 11 years of age and have spent 90% of my career here.

“I’m looking forward to a great year celebrating my career so far and to many more years to come.”

All under 12s from the Warrington and Salford areas will be allowed to attend this game free of charge with a full paying adult.
