In his first interview since being announced as the new St Helens coach, Kristian Woolf admitted he felt excited and honoured to join a club with such rich history.
Woolf, the current Tonga national coach, will replace Justin Holbrook next season in his first club head coaching role at the top level, and was understandably delighted with a fresh challenge in England.
“Myself and the family are really looking forward to coming over and experiencing a different lifestyle in England,” he told the club website.
“It’s a real privilege to come to a club with the history of St Helens and also its history of success. It’s something I’m really looking forward to being a part of.
“It’s something I have always wanted to do and it’s a great opportunity for me.
“St Helens is a club with an amazing history and I’m confident we can achieve great things together.
“I’d like to wish Justin and the team all the best for the rest of the year and I certainly hope you go all the way”
