York City Knights have secured the services of Super League centre or second row forward Jimmy Keinhorst on loan.

The 29-year-old has been allowed to leave Hull Kingston Rovers on a season-long loan as the Knights look to launch a serious promotion bid.

Keinhorst joined his first club Leeds Rhinos in 2012 where he was part of the treble-winning squad in 2015. He had loan spells with Hunslet Hawks, Wakefield Trinity and Widnes before joining Hull KR in 2019.

The Germany international played 28 times for the Robins, scoring seven tries – including a match-winner on debut against Hull FC.

Keinhorst will wear the currently vacated squad number three for the 2020 season, thanks to the help of Squadbuilder.

Knights coach James Ford told the club website: “I’d like to applaud the efforts of the supporters, sponsors and specifically Squadbuilder for facilitating this acquisition. All contributions are used towards building a better club for the future and I’m delighted to be a part of such positivity.

“Jimmy will bring strike and threat to our edges, added experience and intelligence to our preparation. I’ve spoken to a number of people regarding Jimmy’s attitude and approach and I’m very confident he’ll further enhance our culture.

“I’m extremely proud of the support we’re receiving from the club in terms of positive cultural shifts, retainment of our best players and attracting players who can help this club continue to grow.”

“I’m excited to work with Jimmy, and I’m looking forward to seeing him raise our standards and get him playing his best rugby.”
